Missions & Causes
“And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’” Mark 16:15 NKJV
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:15-16 NIV
At West Lake Christian Church, we take Christ’s words seriously. We believe that sharing the life saving good news of Jesus Christ is not an option, but is a command from God to further His kingdom here on earth. Through the various missions of our church and our church connections, we share within our community and beyond through prayer, our time, our talents and our financial support.
Below is a list of some of the ways we participate in furthering this mission. Occasionally we will highlight one or more of these great causes.

GriefSare: Your Journey from Mourning to Joy
West Lake Christian Church is pleased to announce we are beginning a new GriefShare Ministry in our church. Grief is a unique and overwhelming feeling that occurs after losing a loved one. It is intense emotional suffering that starts the “ball of emotion” spinning. Grief is inevitable when a loved one is lost, and we all grieve differently when that occurs. Some may be able to cope with the grief and work through it on their own, but most of us cannot do this on our own. The GriefShare Ministry is a Bible-based program that reaches out to those grieving the loss of a loved one. WLCC will be presenting the following program in early 2022:
This intense, 13-week program will start on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the West Lake Christian Church, and will run every Sunday through Sunday, November 6, 2022. Each week we will view an in-depth video, discuss the video in a small group discussion, and work in our personal workbooks.
Weekly topics include:
- Is This Normal?
- Challenges of Grief
- The Journey of Grief (Parts 1 and 2)
- Grief and Your Relationships
- Guilt and Anger
- Complicating Factors
- Lessons of Grief (Parts 1 and 2)
- What Do I Live for Now?
The registration cost for this 13-week program is $25.00 and pays for your workbook and a book to journal your thoughts and experiences in, as we walk together through the grief process. Through an anonymous and generous gift from one of our church members, those attending and completing the course will be reimbursed. If you cannot afford the registration cost, scholarships are available.
For more information, or to register, please contact the church office at (573) 374-0647 . I hope to see you there!
